Types of Business Registration

Sole Proprietorship
Single-owner business with simplest registration process. Owner has unlimited liability for business debts.
Partnership
Two or more individuals sharing profits, losses, and management responsibilities. Requires partnership agreement.
Private Limited Company
Separate legal entity with limited liability. Shares are not publicly traded. Requires at least one shareholder and one director.
External Company
Foreign company establishing a branch or place of business in Ghana. Must register within 28 days of establishment.
Registration Requirements
For Individuals (Sole Proprietorship)
- Ghana Card or valid national ID
- TIN (Tax Identification Number)
- Passport-sized photograph
- Business name (3 preferred names)
- Business address details
For Companies (Limited Liability)
- Company Regulations (Form 4)
- Ghana Card of all directors/shareholders
- TIN for all directors/shareholders
- Registered office address
- Stated capital (min GHS 500 for private)
Registration Process
Follow these steps to register your business in Ghana.
Name Search
Search and reserve your business name online through the RGD portal. Submit 3 preferred names in order of priority.
Complete Application
Fill out the online registration form with company details, directors, shareholders, and registered address information.
Upload Documents
Upload required documents including ID cards, TIN certificates, and company regulations (for limited companies).
Pay Fees
Pay registration fees online via mobile money, bank transfer, or at any RGD office.
Receive Certificate
Upon approval, download your certificate of registration or collect from RGD office.
