Accessibility statement
We are committed to making gov.gh accessible to every citizen of Ghana, including persons with disabilities. This statement explains our conformance level, testing methods, known gaps, and how to report issues.
Our commitment
We want every person to be able to use gov.gh, regardless of disability, assistive technology, device, or connection speed. This is both a legal duty under the Persons with Disability Act 2006 (Act 715) and a core design principle of this platform.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA in full. AA is our floor, not our ceiling.
How we test
We use a layered testing approach:
- Automated testing — axe-core runs on every pull request and must return zero violations before code merges.
- Manual keyboard testing — every interactive component is tested with keyboard-only navigation before release.
- Screen reader testing — we test with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on iOS and macOS. New components must pass before they ship.
- Colour contrast — all colour combinations are verified to meet a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text and UI components.
- User testing — we include persons with disabilities in our user research panels. Findings are documented and feed directly into the backlog.
Known gaps and ongoing work
We are working towards a full independent accessibility audit by an accredited external auditor. Until that audit is complete, there may be gaps we have not yet identified. We will publish the results of the external audit on this page when it is complete.
If you find a problem, we want to know.
Report an accessibility issue
Email us at accessibility@gov.gh. Please describe the page, the issue, and the assistive technology you are using. We will respond within five working days and aim to fix confirmed issues within thirty days.
