Privacy notice

This notice explains what information gov.gh collects when you visit, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have under the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843).

Who we are

The Government of Ghana, represented by the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS), is the data controller for this website. Our registered address is Office of the Head of Civil Service, P.O. Box MB 116, Accra, Ghana.

What we collect and why

Web analytics

We collect anonymised usage data to understand how citizens use this portal and to improve it. This includes pages visited, time on page, device type, and approximate region (derived from your network, not stored at individual level). We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifying information through analytics.

Analytics are provided by Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare does not use cookies for analytics and does not share data with advertisers.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in improving a public service, under Act 843 §20(b).

Forms and services (Phase 2 onward)

When you complete a government service form, additional personal data will be collected. Each service will have its own privacy notice explaining exactly what is collected, the legal basis, how long it is kept, and who it is shared with.

How long we keep data

Anonymised analytics data is retained for 12 months, then deleted. Audit logs required under the Cybersecurity Act 2020 (Act 1038) are retained for 7 years.

Data processor disclosure

We use Cloudflare as our infrastructure and data processor. Cloudflare processes data under a formal data processing agreement with the Government of Ghana, pursuant to Act 843 §30(4). Cloudflare’s data centres are located in the European Union. The full processor agreement is published at gov.gh/legal/data-processing.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843), you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • correct inaccurate data
  • request deletion of data where there is no legal basis to retain it
  • complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when our data practices change and publish the revised date at the top of this page.
