Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence provides policy direction for Ghana's armed forces and ensures the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic. It manages the Ghana Armed Forces and supports national disaster response, peacekeeping, and border security.
What we do
The Ministry of Defence keeps Ghana safe. We direct the Ghana Armed Forces — the Army, Navy, and Air Force — in defending our land, sea, and airspace. We contribute troops to United Nations and African Union peacekeeping missions worldwide. We also support civilian authorities during natural disasters and public-health emergencies. Our Defence Intelligence unit monitors threats to national security so Ghana stays one step ahead.
