Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations
The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations promotes productive employment, fair labour practices, and social protection for workers. It manages social security, resolves labour disputes, and ensures safe working conditions for all Ghanaians in formal and informal employment.
What we do
The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations protects workers and builds a thriving job market. SSNIT collects pension contributions and pays retirement and invalidity benefits to millions of Ghanaian workers. The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission ensures public-sector workers are paid fairly. The Labour Commission mediates disputes between employers and employees so conflicts are resolved without strikes. We also work to formalise the informal economy so more workers access pensions, health insurance, and legal protections.
