Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection promotes gender equality, protects children's rights, and delivers social safety nets to Ghana's most vulnerable citizens. It manages the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty programme and combats domestic violence and human trafficking.

What we do

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection champions the rights of women, children, and vulnerable people in Ghana. The LEAP programme delivers cash transfers to extremely poor households so children stay in school and families meet basic needs. The Department of Social Welfare supports people with disabilities, the elderly, and orphans. DOVVSU works alongside the Police to protect survivors of domestic violence. We drive policies to close the gender gap in education, employment, and public life so every Ghanaian — regardless of gender or circumstance — can thrive.
