Ministry of the Interior

The Ministry of the Interior maintains internal security and public order. It oversees the Ghana Police Service, the National Identification Authority, immigration administration, and the management of national disasters and emergencies.

What we do

The Ministry of the Interior keeps communities safe and manages who enters and stays in Ghana. We oversee the National Identification Authority, which issues the Ghana Card — the national digital identity for every citizen. The Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and National Fire Service all report to us. We also coordinate disaster response through NADMO, helping communities recover from floods, fires, and other emergencies.
