Finance Minister presents mid-year budget review to Parliament

The Ministry of Finance has laid the 2026 mid-year fiscal policy review before Parliament, projecting a narrowed deficit and revised growth estimates for the second half of the year.

The Minister for Finance presented the 2026 mid-year budget review to Parliament on 10 April 2026. The review projects a fiscal deficit of 4.2 percent of GDP for the full year, down from the 5.1 percent recorded at end-2025.

GDP growth for 2026 has been revised upward to 5.8 percent, supported by stronger-than-expected performance in the oil and gas sector and a recovery in cocoa revenues. The review also reports that domestic revenue mobilisation for the first quarter exceeded the target by GH₵ 1.4 billion, largely driven by improved compliance following the full digitalisation of Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) filings.

The Minister confirmed that the government remains on track with its International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme commitments. Disbursements under the Extended Credit Facility are expected to continue on schedule through the second quarter.

Parliament will debate the review over the next two weeks. Citizens can follow the proceedings live on the Parliament of Ghana website and via Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) radio.
