Apply for a Ghana Card

The Ghana Card is the national ID and your legal Taxpayer Identification Number. Apply at any NIA registration centre.

Before you apply

Locate your nearest registration centre on the NIA map. Many centres issue the card on the same day; some require a return visit for collection.

Step by step

  1. Visit an NIA registration centre with your supporting documents.
  2. Your biometrics (photograph, fingerprints, iris scan) are captured on-site.
  3. You receive a registration receipt with your application reference number.
  4. Collect your Ghana Card when notified by SMS or at the stated pickup window.

After you apply

Your Ghana Card PIN is your legal TIN for tax purposes. Use the same number when filing tax returns, opening bank accounts, or registering a SIM.
